When Art Basel Miami Beach 2014 comes to town on December 4-7 with its brigade of artists, critics, gallerists, and curious spectators, all eyes will be on the festival. While we will certainly be keeping up with the world renowned art fair, there is plenty of art outside of the festival waiting to be discovered. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites in this guide to art outside of Art Basel Miami Beach that are worthy of a visit. In the midst of it all here in Miami Beach, the appreciation for cultural diversity and art runs deep.

11th Annual Frost Art Museum Breakfast in the Park: Daniel ArshamThe Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University is known around the world for its exquisite Outdoor Sculpture Park. In celebration of Art Basel every year, the museum hosts Breakfast in the Park. A noted sculptor is invited to speak, after which guests enjoy a breakfast outdoors, informal lecture and guided tours of The Sculpture Park and the exhibits in The Frost Art Museum. This year the guest speaker will be Daniel Arsham, an acclaimed sculptor, who was born in New York but raised here in Miami. Breakfast in the Park with Daniel Arsham will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
