Fly South for the Winter (or at Least for a Weekend)
As we look upward to the northern half of the United States, we’re struggling to imagine how they’re dealing with the frequent snow storms and cold days they’ve encountered this terribly harsh winter. With our sympathies to our northerly neighbors, we offer a *warm* invitation to anyone snowbound, sun-starved, or cabin fevered in the cold: come on down to Hilton Cabana Miami Beach.
This isn’t merely a competitive tourism scheme, it’s an offering of refuge. We aren’t the only ones thinking this way, either. A recent Conde Nast Traveler article reported the tourism board of Ithaca, New York has actually invited website visitors to visit Florida this winter instead of venturing to Upstate New York.
The exact quote, pulled from the Visit Ithaca website: “Due to this ridiculously stupid winter, Ithaca invites you to visit The Florida Keys this week. Please come back when things thaw out. Really, it’s for the birds here now.”
It seems all bets are off this winter. A short plane ride down south comes with unfiltered warm sunny days and sidewalks free of dirty snow and slippery ice patches.
