Every year here in Miami Beach we anxiously await the arrival of Art Basel, one of the biggest events of the year. Art Basel in Miami Beach will take place from December 4 – 7, 2014. During this time, leading galleries from five continents around the world travel to Miami to display works of modern and contemporary art. We’ve rounded up everything you’ll need to know if you’re planning to attend this year’s festivities with a guide to Art Basel in Miami Beach 2014.

Last year more than 75,000 individuals made their way to Miami Beach to enjoy Art Basel. The show is a gathering of the best artists from around the world who display their works of art at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC). Within the center’s 500,000-plus square feet of exhibition space, the show hosts sections including the Galleries, Nova, Positions, Kabinett and Magazines, in addition to discussion series’ called Conversations and Salon. A broad range of artwork is on display, including paintings, sculptures, photography, film and video, and institutional-scale art works

While top artists and galleries are the main attraction at MBCC, Art Basel is a time where ambitious artworks are also displayed for some of the industry’s top critics and fellow onlookers. Artwork in the Public sector feature emerging artists, outdoor sculptures, interventions, and performances shown nearby at Collins Park, SoundScape Park, and surrounding beaches.

Art Basel is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at the show venue or in advance at the online shop. With an anticipated crowd of over 75,000, we’d suggest purchasing your tickets beforehand! Visit the Art Basel website to see which of the multiple ticket purchase options works best for you. Please note the hours of operation vary each day for the exhibit at MBCC.

Art Basel Miami Beach Schedule:

  • Saturday, December 6, 2014 — 12 noon to 8pm
  • Sunday, December 7, 2014 — 12 noon to 6pm

The fun doesn’t stop when the MBCC closes its doors for the evening. There are plenty of parties and events taking place around Miami Beach during Art Basel. The likes of Solange, FKA Twigs, James Blake, top DJ’s like A-Trak, and many more will be in town partying it up. We suggest you do the same!
